The Halifax Mooseheads solidified their goaltending situation Friday releasing 20-year-old Frederic Piche.

Mooseheads GM Cam Russell says Piche will remain on the team’s 50-man protected which allows the team to shop him on the trade market.

The cut in nets leaves the netminding jobs to 18-year-old Anthony Terenzio and 16-year-old Zachary Fucale.

The cut also clarifies the team’s overage situation. By league rules teams are only able to carry three 20-year-olds. The team now has four, however forward Alexandre Grenier attending NHL camp the team will carry the four remaining players into the season and likely make a decision when Grenier returns. The other three are last season’s captain Travis Randell, defenseman Jonathan Parisien and forward Cameron Critchlow.
